What is Faraid and who does it apply to?

Faraid is the Islamic law of inheritance that governs how a deceased Muslim's estate is distributed among their heirs. It applies to Muslims in Malaysia, and the shares are defined by the Quran and hadith. Non-Muslim assets are governed by Malaysian civil law instead.

How long does estate administration typically take?

Timelines vary depending on estate complexity, court scheduling, and the completeness of documentation. A straightforward estate may be resolved within several months, while more involved matters take longer. We will give you an honest estimate during our initial conversation.

What is the difference between Probate and Letters of Administration?

Probate is the court process used when the deceased left a valid Will, confirming the executor's authority. Letters of Administration are applied for when there is no Will — this appoints an administrator to manage and distribute the estate. We assist with both.

What documents do I need to bring for an initial consultation?

Bring the deceased's MyKad or identity document, death certificate, any Will (if available), and a list of known assets and liabilities. Do not worry if your documents are incomplete — we can work through what you have and advise on the next steps.

Are the fees fixed, or can they change?
